June 14, 2020 Statement from Wildest Dreams Events Owner & Lead Coordinator, Courtney Gardner

Hello everyone, my name is Courtney Gardner and I am the owner and lead coordinator at Wildest Dreams Events. From the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis all the way through the tragic death of George Floyd and the ensuing protests and uprisings throughout the country, we at WDE have focused our energy on supporting the people we serve on their best days, through what is measurably their worst days. Our hearts here are with Mr. Floyd’s family and that of Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many other unnamed victims of racism and police brutality in America. Here’s where it gets personal.

I have owned this business for the greater part of two years and hopefully helped to make countless beautiful memories for my clients. Although I have been a business owner for two years, I have been Black my whole life. That’s why today it is imperative that I state on behalf of everyone here at Wildest Dreams Events that Black Lives Matter apolitically and without endorsement. Black Lives Matter is a statement of fact and support for our black clientele and black people all over the Chicagoland area and the world.

As Angela Davis once said “In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be antiracist.“ Wildest Dreams Events is proud to announce two new initiatives In support of anti-racism and the consistent need that the COVID-19 crisis has placed on our communities.

First, we are partnering with Blair’s Kitchen to provide free meals to kids and families in the city of Chicago. The company is proud to donate our time and resources to the efforts of Blair’s Kitchen and encourages its clientele and followers to do the same. Find the link to donate directly to the food drive in our bio now.

We will also be launching Distant Dreams: a penpal program catering to those who intended to marry the loves of their lives in 2020 and were required to postpone in the name of safety. We want to hear your stories and share them with other devastated couples. Your love should still be celebrated and we want to help you do that. The Distant Dreams Initiative will launch on July 1 and is for any couple who’s had to postpone and/or cancel their wedding and wants to talk to someone who understands what that feels like.

For more information on both programs and how to help, please visit our website at wildestdreamsevents.com. We cannot wait to start making your event dreams come true once it is again safe to do so. Until then, we are committed to serving our community in the best way we can, and hope you will join us.

Thank you.

Courtney Gardner
